Object Company is run by Scottish designer & maker Catherine Johnston.
The project was begun in 2014 and represents her desire to broaden practical skills, using materials from the immediate environment. Woodwork has always been the primary medium but the incorporation of ceramic and metal elements has increased hugely throughout 2018 due to the acquisition of a ceramic kiln and a selection of metal working tools.
Each item Catherine creates is unique, and worked on individually, so that the irregularities and makers marks can be fully appreciated.
All of the materials have been selected for their outstanding beauty, unusual markings and their locality to Catherine’s home in Glasgow - all of the wood has been grown in Scotland and managed responsibly and all clay was formed in Scotland. Catherine hopes to begin digging for and preparing her own clay very soon.
